The Hebrew University in Jerusalem was the first to be established in Palestine. The inauguration ceremony took place on the 7th of Nissan 5685, April 1st, 1925 in the amphitheatre on Mount Scopus. On the University's 40th year, a special medal was minted to be awarded to the University staff and to guest dignitaries.

Reverse In the center, part of the Dead Sea scrolls. An incuse portrayal of the Dead Sea, and in relief, the Hebrew University emblem. On the rim, an inscription "Wisdom hath built her house" (from Proverbs 9:1) in Hebrew and English. Between the Hebrew and the translation, are symbols of various disciplines taught at the University.

"WIZO", the initials of the "Women's International Zionist Organization" was founded in London in 1 920. Its main aims then were - to organize women for Zionist activities, to train women and girls in Palestine for constructive work and to tend to the health and education of children in Palestine. WIZO is made up of 35 national organizations all over the world. In the U.S. by agreement, "Hadassah" controls all WIZO activities. The headquarters of the WIZO World Council is in Israel.

Fashion export started when European fashion houses began to move to Israel. In 1974 more than 100 well known shops were exporting their goods. Their sales abroad totaled over one hundred million dollars. The main customers for Israeli fashion abroad are to be found in the U.S., West Germany, France, Britain, Holland, Switzerland, Canada and South Africa.

Reverse A stylized figure of the seven branched candelabra fitting into the industrial wheels of the world, expressing Israel's Export and Import industry. Around the rim an inscription "Ministry of Commerce and Industry" in Hebrew and English.

Keren Hayesod, the United Israel Appeal, was established as the chief financial instrument of the Zionist Organization to finance its activities in developing the country. Following the Balfour Declaration, the Zionist Congress held in London in July 1920, decided to establish the fund by means of which it was hoped to mobilize the financial participation of world Jewry in the economic development of Palestine.
